My passion for animals began over 18 years ago when my Bichon, Ivan, came into my life. I had been out of college only a few years and couldn’t find a career path that I found rewarding. I went from job to job trying to find something that I would be happy doing. One day, I sat down and made a list of all the things that interested me or that I was passionate about. As I made my list, Ivan looked up at me. I smiled and realized that helping animals brought me great joy. I started working as a receptionist with the intent to become a Veterinary Technician. What I learned was that I really loved building relationships with the pets and their owners without physically working on the pets.
After more than 11 years of working with clients, veterinarians, and support staff I saw how passionate people are toward their pets. I realized I’m not the only one that treats their pets as if they are family members!
I decided to combine my love of animals with my second passion in life, cooking. I began making treats for my coworkers and staff for holidays and special occasions. I loved knowing I could bring happiness to other’s pets. My 3 beautiful Bichons; Ivan, Capt. Morgan and Wrigley, have been happy to taste test new treat creations! So with the support of my family and friends, I created Yappy Hour Bakery.
